Traveling the world is something that many people dream of, but not everyone gets to do, so if you’re lucky enough to be able to travel, either the world or traveling locally to see some sights, then you want that time to be filled with fun memories, adventures and laughter - not stress and trauma.
Although things aren’t always going to be perfect, and that’s what makes up part of the fun of travel, it’s also important to remember that you’re doing it so that you can enjoy the overall experience of it and make memories that will last a lifetime, so in this post I’m going to share with you some things that will make your life easier while traveling so can enjoy and make lifelong memories.
A plan
As with everything, a good plan is always crucial to making things run smoothly, and although you certainly don’t need to plan out every single detail of your trip and you should leave room for being spontaneous, it’s definitely a good idea to have some kind of roadmap, whether it’s planning out your general destinations, your budget, or even where you’re going to stay and for how long, all of these things will help you stay a lot more focused and less stressed as you progress on your trip.
Travel apps
From apps that list emergency numbers around the world, to ones that allow you to connect with fellow travelers, and even ones that help connect you with locals. There are hundreds of amazing travel apps out there to help boost your trip, and although you don’t have to, and probably shouldn’t attempt to download all of them, many of them will be a really great addition to your travel arsenal.
Emergency funds
No matter how well you budget, and even if you’re great at sticking to your budget when traveling, you just never know when things might happen, so it’s always a good idea to have an emergency fund as a safety net in case you need it. Emergency funds are best not carried in cash and should be accessible at all times easily, so the best way is to have an emergency credit card, prepaid card that you top up before you leave, or even an additional bank account that you can use to access funds from.
The right documents
Making sure you always have the right documents on you when traveling is essential. It’s not just a valid passport and boarding pass you’ll need, but also things like visas - even transit visas and travel insurance if needed. You should also keep a digital copy of all your important documents in case you need them and preferably have them backed up in the cloud so that you can access them anytime you need them or if the originals get stolen or lost.
A travel battery charger
Nowadays most of us feel anxious at the mere thought of our phone’s battery draining - and that’s just on a regular day. If traveling, it’s actually a good idea to have a full battery on your phone, but if you’re out all day and not near any power outlets, then a good thing to have is a travel battery charger that will allow you to charge your phone on the go wherever you are. Just make sure your airline will allow you to travel with it on-board or in your checked baggage as some don’t allow them.
