The Fashion of Yoga #1

Fashion and Yoga?

Fashion may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of yoga. However, if you're spending the majority of your time teaching classes in studios or private lessons in offices or homes, working in a studio, or simply being active - chances are you want to look good while you're doing it. Heck, you may just be sitting on your couch watching Netflix - nothing beats the perfect pair of yoga pants.

Sure, there's negativity associated with pairing yoga with fashion, but I think it's ridiculous. I don't want to wear sweatpants around town all day (more power to you if you do) and I don't feel the need to wear jeans, either (wait - what do normal people wear on a daily basis again?). To be clear, I don't advocate spending tons of money on workout clothes nor do I think it's appropriate to be attached to materials things.

But we have a right to look as good as we feel*. Whatever that means to you and however your budget allows for that.

Sure, you may get funny looks in the grocery store for your loud print leggings, but who cares. I'll be the first to admit that I have a yoga legging addiction. Also, I'm not afraid to admit that I shopped at Forever 21 for the first 6 months that I practiced yoga, wearing those $5 leggings that are see-through. That's right, folks. If you're reppin' those leggings in class, everyone can see through your pants when you bend over. No one bothered to tell me, and since YogaWorks' studios don't have mirrors, I didn't notice for way too long.

The day I noticed my leggings were see-through, I was horrified & I bought an $80 pair of leggings from the studio. I... was... hooked. They were so silky smooth, so stretchy and form-fitting, so stylish and sexy... yes, there was no turning back. Since then, my collection has started overflowing from my closest (it's a small closet) and the amount of yoga-related clothing I have far outweighs my "regular" wardrobe.

The Fashion of Yoga

So let's get to it! For this series, I'll share my favorite new looks for the season and other lifestyle essentials (expect some bikinis to come up in the next few months). I'll also share my favorite looks from the past year. Please share if you like what you see and share your feedback and suggestions as well! Much love everyone!

Look 1 Sulara Wear

Sulara Wear is a Costa Rican Activewear line that I am in love with! Currently, you can find them on Instagram @sularawear and e-mail them for orders or shop while you're on retreat in Costa Rica! Featured below is the Hybrid Legging and the Diploid Bra (my favorite bra, currently!).

Look 2 Sulara Wear

Coffee, Netflix & Yoga Pants - a girl's favorite things! Another from Sulara Wear because I'm just too in love with this top!! It's PERFECT. It seriously describes my life and so many people comment on it, raving that they want one, too! It comes in black or white. I look wearing it out and avoid wearing it to class so it's stay nice longer!

Look 3 Flexy Fit & Swim Wear

The third look is by Flexy Fit & Swim Wear (@flexyfitwear). I just got these leggings from their new line and I'm IN LOVE! They're perfectly tropical and floral. In sync for my beach-side lifestyle and they're super feminine. I can wear them to shop and then I can dress them up for happy hour. The bra is the Diploid Bra in black by Sulara Wear.

Flexy Fit is based out of San Diego and the clothing is made in Brazil.

Look 4: Favorite Classic Look from Jala Clothing

My all-time favorite leggings are still the classic Jala Cut Leggings, pictured below. I have them in dark grey and got them over a year ago. They've remained so popular that Jala Clothing has come out with many different fabrics for the style! The leggings are buttery soft and I never cease to get tons of compliments when I wear them. I might need a new pair soon because I wear them so much, and I'll definitely be buying a new pair when this one has it's final day! You can use code RIMA20 to save 20% on these beauties and get free shipping. The top is by Jala, too (Demi crop top in black), but they don't sell it anymore.

Jala Clothing is based out of Los Angeles, California.
